SFWMD Plans Public Meeting for St. Lucie River

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28 to discuss a proposed watershed protection plan for the St. Lucie River.  The public is invited to attend and make comments.
St. Lucie County Fire District participates in Fire Prevention Week

City Seeks Parade Entries, Vendors for Festival of Lights Events

The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department is looking for vendors and parade participants for the 2008 Festival of Lights to be held for the first time in front of the city’s new Civic Center on U.S. Highway 1.  The festival and parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Renovations Complete on North End of Boardwalk

Renovations on the north end of the St. Lucie River boardwalk are complete, and the improvements now mean nature lovers have 2,453 feet of walking paths along the river and through wooded mangroves in Port St. Lucie.
Crosstown Parkway Opens from Bayshore to Manth

A major segment of the Crosstown Parkway east of Bayshore Boulevard is now open, making it possible to drive from Cashmere Boulevard in St. Lucie West to Manth Lane near Floresta Drive in just a few minutes. The project was completed 5 months early.
County's Splash Park Opens at Ravenswood Pool

St. Lucie County’s new Splash Park at Ravenswood Pool in Port St. Lucie is now open. Featuring a variety of water-soaking structures, this new 4,800-square-foot splash area is open for children of all ages.

Port St. Lucie Giving Native Trees to Residents on Oct. 25

The Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee will give away 500 native trees to city residents on Sat., Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to noon outside City Hall, 121 S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. The committee recommends early arrival, as trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is underway for the city’s Fall/Winter Junior Basketball League, and there are still plenty of openings for sign ups in all of the girls’ divisions. The league is open to boys, ages 8 through 17, and girls, ages 8 through 14.

City Seeks Volunteer for Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee

The City of Port St. Lucie is accepting applications for a voluntary, unpaid position on the Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee. The Committee has been established to help with promoting beautification of the city through various programs, including its annual clean-up day, adopt-a-street program, landscaping and beautification grants, and anti-littering initiative.
