A city resident was recently honored for logging more than 600 hours of volunteer service in just one year’s time in the Port St. Lucie Neighborhood Services Department.
Karen Czerwinski and her husband, Ed, moved to Port St. Lucie in July, 2009. Mrs. Czerwinski said she wanted to get involved as a volunteer in the community as soon as she moved here, and chose to do so in the city’s Neighborhood Services Department, which includes Code Enforcement and Animal Control. Since then, Mrs. Czerwinski has performed a multitude of clerical duties, volunteering for four hours a day, three days a week and saving money that would otherwise be paid by the city for the same services.
On Wednesday, Aug. 25, Neighborhood Services Director James Arnold and employees from the department honored Mrs. Czerwinski with a surprise luncheon on her one-year anniversary with them, noting she had already logged more than 600 hours of time in her volunteer capacity.
Members of both Code Enforcement and Animal Control were on hand to congratulate Mrs. Czerwinski and thank her for all her efforts over the past year. Mr. Arnold presented Mrs. Czerwinski with a plaque honoring her achievement, as well as a letter of recognition and a bouquet of beautiful red roses.
