Public Invited to Botanical Garden Meeting on Oct. 13
The next meeting of the Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Garden will be Monday, Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Center, 2195 Airoso Boulevard.
Residents are encouraged to join the group and to help plan the future of the botanical garden, which will become a notable tourist destination and place of pride for all Port St. Lucie residents for generations to come. Citizen input into the plans will ensure the botanical garden will have something for everyone.
The garden will be set on 10 acres of city-owned property south of Port St. Lucie Boulevard between Westmoreland Boulevard and the St. Lucie River, and will include facilities for educational presentations, a lake for small boats and other nature-oriented amenities.
The success of the recent plant sale at the gardens site is an encouraging sign that residents are enthusiastic about the project, and this is still a great time for new people to get involved. To join the Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Garden, e-mail Councilman Christopher Cooper at pslbotanicalgard@aol.com or call him at (772) 871-5159.
