Best Management Practices

Best Management Practices are methods that have been determined to be the most effective, practical means of preventing or reducing pollution of non-point sources from entering into the cities storm water system, and our surface waters.

BMPs include but are not limited to: treatment ponds to remove pollutants from storm water, operating and maintenance procedures, storm water education, management practices to control runoff from spills or leaks of non-storm water, erosion and sediment control practices, and other such actions as the DEP or City determines appropriate and necessary for the control of pollutants.
