Work begins on intersection at PSL and Gatlin Blvds
Intersection improvements begin at Port St. Lucie and Gatlin Boulevards
What: The Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Gatlin Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project
When: Construction is scheduled to begin Aug. 1, 2018 and continue through April 2019
Where: The Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Gatlin Boulevard Intersection Improvement project extends from Gatlin Blvd. to Dalton Ave. on Port St. Lucie Blvd., and from Brighton St. on Gatlin Blvd. to east of College Park Rd. on Tulip Blvd.
Why: The project consists of traffic signal, pedestrian signal, crosswalk and sidewalk ramp upgrades at the PSL Blvd and Gatlin/Tulip intersection; median and turn lane storage modifications on PSL Blvd. and Gatlin Blvd; PSL Blvd. median opening closure at the Bravo Shopping Center; Tulip Blvd traffic separator installation between PSL Blvd and College Park Road with installation of a traffic circle at College Park Rd. and Tulip Blvd; designated right turn additions to eastbound and westbound Aviation Ave and southbound Brighton St; utilities relocations and drainage modifications; and milling, overlay, signing and pavement marking throughout the project limits.
Efforts will be made to limit traffic disruptions, but lane closures and detours will be necessary to accomplish the improvements. These will take place as needed throughout the project and generally will take place during off peak hours to minimize traffic congestion and delays for most drivers.
