Pet owners in Port St. Lucie now have a new resource to help them recover lost animals with the addition of a lost and found page to the city’s Web site.
The new page includes pictures of animals recently found within city limits as well as the dates and locations where they were picked up. Additionally, anyone who has lost a pet in the city can have a photo of their pet posted, so that anyone who has found the animal can locate the owner.
Only about one in five of the dogs and cats picked up by the city are returned to their owners, and animal control officers are hoping to increase that number using the new Web page.
There is no cost for the service, which is provided by the city’s Animal Control Department.
