City Manager announces three finalists for police chief position

After an extensive committee review of 48 applications for the position of Port St. Lucie police chief and telephone interviews of nine candidates, City Manager Gregory J. Oravec has selected three finalists for the position.

The candidates are:

  • Gerard Speziale, New York, New Jersey Port Authority
  • John Deal, City of Altamonte Springs, Florida
  • Craig Novick, Township of Franklin, New Jersey

The finalists have been invited to Port St. Lucie to continue in the selection process in person from June 14–17. They will have additional interviews and meet Mr. Oravec, the City Council, city staff members and the public.

Mr. Oravec said hiring a police chief is one of his most important responsibilities, and he is looking for one who will be passionate about leading the city’s police department.
