Port St. Lucie City Manager Greg Oravec announced today a major restructuring of the city's police department that will reallocate approximately $2 million a year and put 18 more police officers in patrol and detective positions.
Among the many changes are a reduction in command staff, reducing the six levels of rank within the department to five, the closing of the Rosser Road substation and the merging of the police department's information technology staff with the city's Management Information Systems department.
Specifics of the plan are detailed in Mr. Oravec’s memo on strategic reorganization, dated April 10, 2012.
