In continuing efforts to improve the city’s efficiency and effectiveness, Port St. Lucie City Manager Greg Oravec announced today a restructuring of the city’s Engineering/Public Works Department that will save taxpayers approximately $654,000 a year and move more employees into line level positions on the street.
The new departmental structure eliminates five management positions and three open vacancies.
In announcing the reorganization, Oravec released memos from himself and City Engineer Patricia Roebling explaining the changes, and a flow chart of the new structure. All are being made public to ensure openness throughout the restructuring process.
Employees whose positions have been eliminated have been offered the city’s Voluntary Separation Package to assist them through this difficult challenge, which Oravec said is necessary to provide the best and most responsive municipal services at the best value.
