Employee of the Third Quarter 2010

Terry T. Roberts

Facility/Building Leader

Terry RobertsTerry T. Roberts and his wife, Pattie (whom he met in the late 70s at Arizona State University) were married in 1981. They now reside in Port St. Lucie and have two boys; Sean, 21, a senior at Southern Illinois University and Danny, 14, a freshman at Centennial High School.  Terry graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Business Administration.

Terry began his 25-year career in 1982 as athletic director with the Boys & Girls Club in Tempe, Ariz. Over a period of six years he moved up the organizational chart, eventually becoming the branch executive, a position he held for more than six years.

In 1995, Terry felt he would welcome greater challenges, so he took on his first executive director position in Pittsburg, Calif.  In 1998, his children were beginning to grow and he and his wife were far from any family, so Terry decided to take a position in Beloit, Wis., just hours from family members.

After seven long winters in the Midwest, Terry and his wife felt it was time to move to a warmer climate and Terry accepted the position of chief operating officer with the Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County.

In 2007, Terry felt he needed a change in his life and took a stab at substitute teaching. Then in November 2008, Terry was given the opportunity to work for the City of Port St. Lucie as a maintenance worker for the new Civic Center. As Terry recently stated, “Being a part of something new such as the Civic Center has been quite amazing, to say the least.”

Terry would like to express his gratitude to Juan Bello and Mark Olson for giving him the opportunity to use his building maintenance experience in the impressive facility that is the Civic Center.

Terry is honored to receive recognition as Employee of the Quarter, and recently said, “I truly feel—and I hope, my supervisors feel the same—that having facility and maintenance background for twenty five years has made my job here at the Civic Center a bit easier and has helped in the overall upkeep of this fine facility.  Thank you for recognizing my work and for this Employee of the Quarter award.”
