Bench pressing, dancing, eating, drinking and more at May’s After 5 LIVE!

After 5 LIVE! to include power lifting competition

May’s popular After 5 LIVE! event will feature a Bench Press and Power Competition, classic car show, dancing to tunes spun by DJ Eric Diegues and much more, all in Village Square on Friday, May 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This month’s After 5 LIVE! event will also feature a classic car and motorcycle show. As always, there will be a great variety of food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, fun for the kids and so much more.

The Bench Press and Power Competition begins at 6 p.m. The contest, for those 15 years and older, consists of two separate competitions: a bench press-only division, with each lifter making three attempts to lift their maximum weight; and a full-power division, with lifters competing in both the bench press and the squat and dead lift. All lifts will be judged, with the single best attempt counted. 

The competitions will be in two weight classes; one for those individuals weighing more than 200 pounds and one for those 200 pounds and under. Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each division, so come out and cheer the competitors on!

All lifters must be present before 5:30 p.m. for weigh-in. Early registration is recommended, as available spots fill up quickly. The fee to enter only the bench press competition is $30. The entry fee for the full competition is $35. Civic Center Fitness Center members receive a $10 discount. 

Parking and admission to After 5 LIVE! and to watch the Bench Press and Power Competition are all free. Both will be held at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center’s Village Square, 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place (on the southeast corner of U.S. 1 and Walton Road).
