The 3rd annual Festival Italiano celebration of Italian-American culture, food and music will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 outside the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, at the Martin Health System Village Square.
Sponsored by Arrigo Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram of Ft. Pierce, the festival will run from noon until 10 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
There will be live music, prize drawings, a pizza eating contest and other activities. Children can help break open the “pignata,” — that’s the Italian version of a “piñata” — and a Kids Zone will feature a variety of games and several bounces houses.
The Order Sons of Italy and the San Gennaro Festival Society are organizing the event, and they offer a special invitation to “Nonna and Nonno” (Grandma and Grandpa) to be part of the fun, which will include a bocce court sponsored by Lowe’s Home Improvement. Food vendors will offer Italian specialties, and arts and craft vendors will present a variety of fun creations.
Also, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and other charitable organizations will be available for those who want to make donations to worthy causes, and the Treasure Coast Food Bank will accept non-perishable foods and canned goods in their effort to fight hunger in the community.
The Civic Center address is 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place, at the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 1 and Walton Road.
