City asks businesses to set up shop at Civic Center event

Posted: May 8, 2009

As a way of saying “thanks” to local businesses and to encourage residents to shop locally, the Port St. Lucie City Council will hold a “Business Palooza” event in June that is expected to help generate sales for local merchants who are looking for new customers.

At Business Palooza, the public will be invited to browse, shop and learn more about the local merchants who help make Port St. Lucie a great place to live.

At the event, the city will provide free space and an 8- by 10-foot table to any business with a city-issued business license. However, with only 105 spots available inside the Civic Center, inside spaces will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Electricity also will be available.

All food vendors will be situated outside in Village Square, where there is space for many food retailers, beyond the 105 spaces inside.

Business Palooza is a way for the city to encourage commerce by connecting residents to local merchants. It will be held Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Civic Center, on southeast corner on U.S. 1 and Walton Road.

To sign up as a vendor, download and complete the application form and return it to the Civic Center in person, by mail or by fax to (772) 398-2944.  ATTN: Tracey Simpson.
