Port St. Lucie’s annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting ceremony will combine this year at the Civic Center for a glorious, sparkling start to the holiday season. The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, and won’t end until a dance party follows a fantastic fireworks display, bringing the event to a rockin’ end.
The day starts with a visit from Santa, so parents, bring your cameras! During the afternoon, children will have a blast on the carnival rides, and all festival-goers will enjoy live music, delicious food, and arts and crafts from many vendors.
At 5:30 p.m., the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place, followed by a Holiday Mile Run at 5:45 p.m. Next up is the Parade of Lights through the streets of the City Center. This popular parade will include professionally-built floats, youth groups and local bands. When the parade ends, the fireworks begin, after which revelers can enjoy a rockin’ dance party.
Incredibly, admission to all the day’s events, as well as parking, is free.
Vendors and organizations interested in participating in this family-oriented event must complete a display request form and submit it to the Special Events division of the Parks and Recreation Department prior to Friday, Nov. 20.
Those interested in participating in the Parade of Lights must complete a parade entry form. There will be an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center for parade participants. It is mandatory that a representative from each group participating attend this meeting.
The Civic Center is located at 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place (on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 1 and Walton Road).
