The City of Port St. Lucie’s Community Redevelopment Agency, Parks and Recreation Department and the German American Club of the Treasure Coast will host the Sixth Annual Oktoberfest on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4 at Lyngate Park. There will be no event on Sunday, Oct. 5.
The event will be held at Lyngate Park, on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway. Friday’s hours are from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday’s hours are noon to 10 p.m. Admission is free both days.
Throughout the festival there will be live German music, authentic German food and beer, activities the whole family can enjoy and a ceremonial keg tapping each day. The first keg of beer is free.
The music will include live performances by the Bob Houston Orchestra, the Alpines, Rhythm Kings, and the Port St. Lucie Community Band.
On Saturday kids are invited to have a great time in the bounce houses, get their face painted and participate in the crowning of the Prince and Princess of Oktoberfest. All kids dressed in German attire will be considered. Also, Victory Forge Military Academy will host a mini boot camp and allow kids to participate in a multi-station obstacle course run by real drill instructors (with a soft side of course). There also will be a variety of arts and craft vendors.
The Port St. Lucie City Council thanks the many vendors and local sponsors who are making this year’s event a success. The sponsors are: Captec Engineering, Nature’s Keeper, 93.7 The Breeze, 97.1 Ocean FM, 99.7 Jack FM, Quality Fence Contractors Inc., EcoWater, Metro PCS, Coast 101.3, German American Club, SLC Cultural Affairs Council, and the Palm Beach Post.
