Welcome to Port St. Lucie Code Enforcement
Information about the Code Enforcement Board
The City of Port St. Lucie was one of the first municipalities on the Treasure Coast to create a Code Enforcement Board, which is a quasi-judicial entity appointed by the City Council.
The board consists of seven members who serve without compensation. All members must be residents of the City. Appointments to the board are based on experience or interests in the issues brought before the board.
The board is empowered by local ordinance and state statutes with the authority to subpoena people and records, hear cases involving suspected violations, order rulings on violations, assess fines and order liens to be placed upon property.
Anyone found in violation by a Code Enforcement Officer will be given a reasonable amount of time to comply. Failure to comply by the date given may result in the case being brought before the Code Enforcement Board where the violator may face fines up to $250.00 for each day the violation exits.
The Code Enforcement Department would like to welcome Special Magistrate Frank Blandino.
The Special Magistrate is an attorney and member of the Florida Bar who shall be appointed by the City Council to preside over Code Enforcement matters. The Special Magistrate shall have the jurisdiction and authority to hear and to decide alleged violations and exercise the powers of a Code Enforcement Board as provided in chapter 162, Florida Statutes.
