A compilation of oral histories, collected and produced by the Port St. Lucie Historical Society, is airing on the city’s cable television channel, PSL TV20.
For several years, the society has been interviewing members of the community about their recollections of the people, places and events that have shaped the city since its founding in 1961. Segments from those interviews have been edited together for this special series that is airing in recognition of the city’s 50th anniversary, which was celebrated heavily in the last week of April.
The program is called, “Port St. Lucie, The First 50 Years: An Oral History Presentation.” The 58-minute program is packed with stories and recollections of people who made the city all it is today.
In the time since the interviews were conducted, some of those featured have passed away, moved away, or have taken on new roles in the community, but all have been the friends, neighbors and leaders who were part of the story of Port St. Lucie.
