Bike Safety Clinic set for Dec. 9
Port St. Lucie Police officers will conduct a bike safety clinic for kids on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Superplay, USA, located at 1600 N.W. Courtyard Circle in St Lucie West.
Police officers will teach children the rules of the road for bike safety, perform a bicycle safety check, and register the bicycles in case they are subsequently lost or stolen. Every child who attends the event will receive a free bicycle helmet.
Riding courses will be set up to simulate intersections and commonly encountered traffic scenarios to practice simple skills. A limited number of bicycles currently held as unclaimed property will be given away to needy children. Police explorers and volunteers will be holding a cookout.
