Public bus transportation expanded in the city

Posted: March 1, 2009

Beginning March 13, the Treasure Coast Connector will institute new fixed bus and trolley routes connecting the eastern and western sections of Port St. Lucie. The routes will run from U.S. 1 and along Port St. Lucie and Gatlin boulevards to the community of Tradition, as well as Prima Vista Boulevard to St. Lucie West, and will stop at a variety of stores, businesses and medical buildings.

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the advent of the new routes, on Thursday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 S.E. Airoso Blvd. Refreshments will be served.

Hours of operation for the routes are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays.  The cost for a single ride is $1, or 50 cents for the elderly, disabled and children ages 5 to 11. Children under 5, accompanied by an adult, ride for free.

To find out more about the new routes, contact Treasure Coast Connector at (772) 464-7433.
