City employees again open hearts for others at the holidays

Posted: Nov. 6, 2009

macaroni and cheeseFrom now until Monday, Nov. 23, the Port St. Lucie Human Resources Department will be collecting boxes of macaroni and cheese and other non-perishables for delivery to the Treasure Coast Food Bank, which will pick up the donations just before Thanksgiving.

The holidays are just around the corner, and for Port St. Lucie city employees that means the start of helping those less fortunate during this special season.

The city invites all residents to join in this important food drive; so if you are visiting City Hall before Monday, Nov. 23, why not bring a box of macaroni and cheese? The average cost of a box is just 75 cents. The average number of people visiting just one of the food pantries on any given day in our area is 105. The numbers add up to a simple and inexpensive way to help others in our community.

Keep an eye on our Web site for additional ways to help those less fortunate during the holiday season, including the Salvation Army Angel Tree that will be placed in the lobby of City Hall, and Hannah’s Socks, an organization working hard to help the homeless.
