Council sets goals for long-term success of City
Acting on City Manager Don Cooper’s advice to stay focused on the long-term success of the city, the Port St. Lucie City Council established eight major goals at their annual two-day retreat meeting in February.
The broadly worded goals address economic, social, cultural and environmental needs, and are intended to serve as a guide for the Council’s decision-making process on all current and future topics.
The goals are to:
- Promote, encourage and/or create diverse quality educational, cultural and recreational opportunities.
- Create and facilitate broad transportation options.
- Facilitate job creation, economic diversification and successful business opportunities.
- Maintain a safe city status.
- Encourage affordable life cycle housing.
- Enhance and maintain the community’s appearance.
- Nurture a sense of pride in the community.
- Balance our natural resource preservation with the community’s needs.
