Summary of Oct. 22 Port St. Lucie City Council Meeting
Oct 23, 2007
At their Oct. 22 meeting, the Port St. Lucie City Council:
1) Approved the property layout plan for the expansion of the Westport Waster Treatment Plant to 12 million gallons a day. Several citizens from the neighborhoods asked the Council not to approve the plan.
2) Approved the property layout plan for a 115-room, five-story Hilton Homewood Suites Hotel, with pool, sports court and patio in the southwestern portion of the city.
3) Approved the property layout plan for a one-story, 3,200-square foot church on the south side of Leafy Road at Erie Street. The Council required the property owner to agree to build a sidewalk in front of the church once the city implements a plan to build sidewalks connecting to the property, though no plan for that currently exists.
4) Accepted a grant of $396,000 from the Florida Inland Navigation District for repair work on the northern end of the St. Lucie River boardwalk at Veterans’ Park at Rivergate.
5) Declared a public nuisance of the house at 2309 S.W. Cooper Lane. The declaration allows the city to legally correct safety hazards on the property.
