SLC Fire District Contributes $250,000 To Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex

Dec 26, 2007

The St. Lucie County Fire District recently presented Indian River Community College with a check for $250,000 to help establish the college’s Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex.

Fire Chief Ron Parrish said the state-of-the-art facility will provide the Fire District with training opportunities that will be among the best in the nation, and it will allow local firefighters and paramedics to improve their skills as emergency service providers.

Construction on the seven-building complex has begun in Ft. Pierce, and IRCC programs in fire science, law enforcement, and homeland security will be housed in the 50-acre, $38 million center.

Vice Mayor Jack Kelly and Councilman Chris Cooper serve on the Fire District’s Board and helped establish the training center.  The St. Lucie County Fire District is the fire department that serves residents and businesses of Port St. Lucie.
