Vice Mayor Jack Kelly hosts "Coffee with the Mayor"
Nov 2, 2007
Vice Mayor Jack Kelly hosted the monthly "Coffee with the Mayor" event in October in Mayor Patricia P. Christensen’s absence, giving updates on the city’s many road projects and reminding the audience that downturns in the city’s housing market are only temporary.
Speaking to about 70 people, Vice Mayor Kelly also talked about the importance of keeping the city’s streets attractive and litter-free so that businesses will be encouraged to move into the community and plant roots. He was joined by County Commissioner Doug Coward and St. Lucie County sheriff Ken Mascara, who offered support of the city’s anti-litter policies.
Vice Mayor Kelly also spoke about how the city is keeping cost down by delaying purchases of equipment, holding employee raises to a minimum, and leaving some vacant positions unfilled.
The Coffee with the Mayor event will air on PSL-TV20 in November. PSL-TV20 is available to customers of Comcast and Hometown Cable Plus, and is streamed live over the Internet from the City’s Web site at www.cityofpsl.com
The event is sponsored each month by the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, which coordinates with various businesses, groups and associations.
