Fire District breaks Ground on two New Fire Stations in PSL
The St. Lucie County Fire District broke ground on two new fire stations Wednesday, both located in the growth areas of southwest Port St. Lucie.
“These stations have been a necessity for some time,” explained Fire Chief Ron Parrish. “The need for fire and emergency medical service is obvious. The St Lucie County Fire District will continue to provide life saving services as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
The stations include Station 16 at the corner of Port St. Lucie Boulevard and McCall Road, just north of Paar Drive, and Station 17, on Village Parkway, just north of the shops at The Landing in Tradition.
The areas have been served by Stations 10, on Dalton Circle, and Station 14 on Becker Road. In the Tradition area, Station 10 is four miles from the main entrance of the community, adding time to any response for fire or medical assistance.
Each station will be 7,661 square feet and will house a fire engine and rescue truck. The cost for each station is expected to be roughly $1.75 million. Both stations were designed by Edlund -Dritenbas-Binkley (EDB) Architects of Vero Beach. The general contractor is Barth Construction.
