In an effort to help find permanent homes for as many of the city’s four-legged friends as possible, PSL Living, a weekly show on PSL-TV20, has embarked on a new programming feature.
PSL Living is a weekly program on the city’s community access station that airs at 6 a.m., noon, 6 p.m. and midnight. Last month, David Robertson, Operations Manager for the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, appeared on the program for the first time with a 3-month-old puppy named “Copper.” As a result of that appearance, Copper was adopted by a Port St. Lucie family less than a week after the show aired.
Port St. Lucie has a long-standing commitment to caring for stray and unwanted animals. The stated mission of the city’s Animal Control Department is to “ensure the well being of the animals of our community while affording the citizens of the city with the highest quality of life.” When an animal is found in Port St. Lucie and brought to Animal Control, the department makes every attempt to locate the owner of that pet. If that effort fails, the animal is turned over to the Humane Society so the pet can be put up for adoption. As part of PSL-TV20’s programming, photos of the animals brought to Animal Control are aired on a regular basis. The animals, along with the date they were picked up, can also be seen on the city’s Web site at www.cityofpsl.com/ac (click on “Lost and Found Pets”).
PSL-TV20 is available to all Comcast and Hometown News cable subscribers, and can also be viewed on the city’s Web site at www.cityofpsl.com/communications.
