S.H.I.P. annual reports now available for review and comment

The City of Port St. Lucie's State Housing Initiatives Partnership (S.H.I.P.) annual reports are available for review and comment from Aug. 27, 2012 through Sept. 10, 2012, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the office of the Community Services Department, Room 221, at Port St. Lucie City Hall, 121 S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. and on the city’s website.

The SHIP Annual Report covers the program years 2009/2010, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012. During 2009/2010 the city received $225,346 plus program income, interest and other funds of $72,796.12 for a total of $297,886.70. In 2010/2011 the city received program income, interest and other funds totaling of $31,010.30. In 2011/2012 the city received $224,633 plus program income, interest and other funds for a total of $258,719.56.

The activities assisted with SHIP funds include funds for the Florida Home Buyer Opportunity Program (down payment and closing costs), repair/rehabilitation, hazard mitigation, and water/sewer assessment assistance. Repair assistance includes repairs for health and safety, water and/or sewer hookups, and correction of code enforcement violations. Hazard Mitigation includes hurricane shutters, garage door reinforcement, etc.

The public is encouraged to review and comment on the reports. Comments on the annual reports may be sent to:
