Port St. Lucie's Engineering Department Staff
The Engineering Department manages all major projects relating to roadways and drainage. This includes, but is not limited to the selection of consultants, bid preparations, invoice processing, construction inspections, public information inquiries and preparation of as-built plans.

In addition, our department coordinates projects within the City that are managed by the State or County. The department receives its funding from gas tax revenues, storm water fees, commercial projects site plan review/permitting and residential ermitting/inspection fees.
Our department's major focus is in four broad categories; road design and construction, residential and commercial permitting, traffic operations and storm water quality. The capitol improvement program encompasses significant design and construction projects.
The Engineering Department concentrates all of it resources to benefit the citizens of Port St. Lucie and those travelers passing through our great city. Every day a diverse and talented staff is dedicated to serving the citizens of Port St. Lucie.

The Survey Division is responsible for stakeouts and inspections related to the drainage and culverts on residential properties. Survey crews consist of Inspectors, Instrument technicians, and Survey workers (rodmen). The City Surveyor oversees the survey division, maintains the City's legal descriptions and reviews plats prior to recording.
The Commercial Division's main objective is to review the impact of the proposed development on the City's roadways and drainage infrastructure as well as meeting the City's Land Development Regulations. The Traffic Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City's Traffic facilities including, but not limited to, Traffic Signals, Streetlights, Stop Signs, Speed Limits, Traffic Calming, and Pavement Markings to maximize roadway safety and efficiency.

The Administrative/Financial/Customer Service staff is responsible for all customer inquiries, residential permit applications, contract pay requests, road closures, payroll, purchasing, and directing numerous questions to various staff and departments. The Support Staff is involved in residential plan review, administrative support to the staff, project management, small design projects and field inspections.
Inspection of the drainage systems of commercial developments, sub-divisions and roadway projects is the responsibility of the Inspection Division/ NPDES Division. The new federally mandated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, which is designed to control the pollutants discharged into surface water such as lakes, ponds, streams and even the ocean, has been implemented.
