The City of Port St. Lucie is encouraging all residents, neighbors, and community members to take on the Billion Step Challenge by signing up at www.healthystlucie.walkertracker.com. In January, Port St. Lucie Mayor Gregory J. Oravec proclaimed that 2018 was to be the year of the Billion Step Challenge and called upon Port St. Lucie to help collectively take a billion steps or more as part of an active exercise program that lives up to our nation's standards for physical fitness.
The Healthy St. Lucie Coalition launched the Billion Steps Challenge to encourage all residents in St. Lucie County to be active. The challenge will run through December 31, 2018 and is in support of strategies identified by community stakeholders in the 2016-2019 Community Health Improvement Plan, overseen by the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County.
The website allows you to join an existing team like Team PSL or to form your own and link your smart phone or Fitbit to the program to easily count your steps.
The City of Port St. Lucie is excited to see how many residents will take part, including homeowner associations, businesses, schools and community groups. Don't be left out, join a team today!
