Professional Standards Division

The Professional Standards Division is comprised of the Internal Affairs Section, Staff Services Section and Accountability & Analysis Section.

The Internal Affairs Section provides a systematic, objective, and impartial method of investigating complaints of improper behavior that may violate department or city rules and regulations by police officers or other personnel.

The Staff Services Section is comprised of Training, Recruiting and Background Investigation Units.  The Training Unit is responsible for coordinating the initial and continuing training provided to sworn and civilian personnel.  The Recruiting and Background Investigation Unit is responsible for recruiting qualified officers and assuring that a thorough background investigation is completed on all Police Department Staff Members. 

The Accountability & Analysis Section consists of Accreditation, Staff Inspections and Crime & Intelligence Analysis Units.  The Crime & Intelligence Analysis Unit is responsible for the department's monthly crime accountability meeting known as STARCOM, as well as the weekly Collaborative Operational Analysis and Response meeting known as COAR.  The Accreditation and Staff Inspections Unit is responsible for assuring that the Police Department is in continuous compliance with Accreditation Standards and conducts ongoing inspections to ensure that compliance is being met.

Working hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
