Frequently asked questions

What is the status of my application?

The process used after receipt of the application for a posted position is all information is entered into the system and then it is forwarded to the department doing the hiring.

Will I be contacted whether my application was selected for the position or not?

If your application is selected as a possible candidate for the posted position, you will be notified by phone to set up an interview. If your application was not selected as a possible candidate, you will not be contacted.

Will I be notified after interviewing if I was not selected for the position?

If you had interviewed for a posted position but are not selected, you will be notified by mail once the selected candidate starts.

Can I fax my application?

We require applications to be mailed to Human Resources or dropped off at the reception desk at City Hall.

Do I need to fill out an application for each position I am interested in?

Human Resources will not make copies of an application for another position. We require one original application per posted position. You could fill out the application and leave blank the area for position, department and signatures, then make a copy. Once you have made a copy for yourself, just fill in the blanks on the original application. This way for each posted position you would like to apply for all you will need to do is fill in the blanks.

If I contact the Human Resources would they be able to tell me what positions are available?

Check the city’s Web site for the available positions or come to City Hall (Building A) and check the job posting board.

If I contact Human Resources would they be able to tell me if the posted positions I applied for have been filled?

The quickest way to see if a position has been filled is to check the job postings page. Once a position has been filled, it is removed from the job postings page. If you do not have access to the Internet, you can check the job posting board at City Hall. Please remember that the selection process can take anywhere from two weeks to a few months. If you are a selected candidate for a posted position, you will hear from the city. If you are not a selected candidate for a posted position, you will not hear from the city, unless you interviewed for the position.
