County donates 3,000 trees to Keep PSL Beautiful program
Posted: April 1, 2009
The wonderful partnership between St. Lucie County and the Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful program has continued with the County’s recent donation of 3,000 trees to the City.
A mixture of Red Maples, Live Oaks and East Palatka Holly, the trees will be planted under the City’s Master Tree Plan, developed for the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement by the KPSLB committee. All of the trees will be planted on City property with public access, including parks, open spaces and gateways.
This generous donation by St. Lucie County is in addition to a $60,000 grant from the County late last year. Of that amount, $50,000 was used by the city’s Community Redevelopment Area to improve the tree canopy along the Woodstork Trail in East Lake Village. The remaining $10,000 of the grant was used by the KPSLB committee for citywide tree planting projects in public areas.
