Keep the dream, keep PSL clean
Posted: February 18, 2009
Who knew that helping to keep our city beautiful could be such fun? Join the community for the annual Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Cleanup Day, on Saturday, March 28 from 8 a.m. to noon, at the city’s Public Works Department, 450 S.W. Thornhill Drive.
Volunteers and sponsors are welcome and needed at this popular event. Volunteers get a free breakfast and free lunch, along with a T-shirt and rubber gloves for the cleanup. Special guests at the event will be the St. Lucie Mets and Slider, their mascot. This is a great opportunity for students to earn volunteer hours. At lunchtime, after the work is done, volunteers will enjoy music by a DJ, raffle prizes, bounce houses, face painting, a slogan contest and more.
The city will conduct a litter assessment prior to March 28, so the neighborhoods that need cleanup the most can be targeted. Buses will take volunteers from Public Works to the areas where cleanup will occur.
The slogan for this year’s event, “Keep the dream, keep PSL clean” was chosen from entries submitted at last year’s cleanup day.
