PSL to give away 300 native trees on Sept. 19
Posted: July 28, 2009
The Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee and the St. Lucie County Extension Office will give away 300 native trees to city residents on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. The committee recommends early arrival, as trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
By giving away an assorted variety of trees that are native to Florida, the KPSLB Committee hopes to protect native plants for future generations and encourage public awareness about the need to maintain Port St. Lucie’s natural beauty. The trees available include Fiddlewood, Silver Buttonwood, Dahoon Holly, Gumbo Limbo, Pigeon Plum and Bald Cypress.
Proper photo identification is required to prove city residency, and only one tree per household will be distributed. Residents must visit educational booths prior to receiving a tree.
The Civic Center is located at 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place, on the southeast corner of U.S. 1 and Walton Road.
