PSL Tree Giveaway a huge success
Posted: Sept. 22, 2009
The Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee is calling it their most well-organized tree giveaway to date. The 5th annual Tree Giveaway held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center began at 8 a.m. A line of residents began forming as early as 6:45 a.m., and by 10 a.m., all 300 trees had been given out.
The trees were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and those wanting to take home one of the trees, all native to Florida, were required to first visit an educational booth, sponsored by the St. Lucie County Extension Office, to learn how to care for the tree.
The Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee would like to thank the St. Lucie County Extension Office, Nature’s Keeper and the staff at the Civic Center for helping to make the event such a huge success.
