Youth Directors: The PAL Youth Directors program is designed for young people ages 12 through 16 who are aspiring leaders in the community. Participants in the program desire to give back to their community by performing service and developing skills that will better their lives and affect positive change. Participants gain an appreciation for community service, its positive results, and its importance to Port St. Lucie and the country.
When participants serve their communities, their good deeds are beneficial to the people they help, and also to the youth themselves. When many hands work together, much gets accomplished. The PAL Youth Directors recognize this as they pool their talents and skills for the local and regional projects in which they participate.
Each year, program participants are expected to:
- Attend 6 local meetings at the Police Athletic League facility. Meetings will be held once a month at a time decided upon by the group. Special meetings will be held as necessary.
- Attend 3 regional meetings throughout east-central Florida
- Participate in 4 local community service projects
- Participate in 3 regional community service projects
Participants must also complete a program application, sign a release of liability form and code of conduct, and provide proof of birth and a color photo. There may be a small cost for some activities, such as CPR training, first aid training, etc.
Youth Directors who complete these and other requirements set forth by the State of Florida Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues are eligible to attend the annual Youth Directors Conference at Walt Disney World Resort held in January of each year. This four day-three night event provides additional training and seminars to develop leadership skills, as well as opportunities to enjoy the Disney complex.
