Botanical Gardens

The Gardens

The Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens held its grand opening in March 2010. The Gardens sit on 19.71 acres of property on the west side of Westmoreland Boulevard, just south of Port St. Lucie Blvd. The property was acquired through the joint efforts of the City of Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County, and the Florida Trust for Public Lands.

The site boasts a pond with a fountain, paved public paths, beautiful gardens, a pavilion, a gift shop and a special place for weddings, as well as ample public parking. Just south of the property is a proposed hotel site that, along with the Gardens, sits on the banks of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. This site is comprised of Scrub, Scrubby Flatwoods, Bay-Gall and Wet Flatwoods, with a mangrove fringe along the North Fork. The 12.87 acres south of the hotel site will be maintained as undisturbed Florida wetlands, subject only to the removal of exotics and maintenance of a walking trail.

Who we are

The Gardens are operated by the Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens (“Friends of the Gardens”), a non-profit organization that was founded to help support the daily operations of the gardens. Friends of the Gardens provides an on-site presence to answer questions and give tours. Also, the organization operates the Pavilion and Botanica Gift Shop, and also helps with the daily maintenance of the Gardens. We hope that you will become involved in the Gardens and/or become a member of the Friends of the Gardens.
