The Parks and Recreation Department needs volunteers to assist it in providing quality recreational programs to residents.
City volunteers are a diverse group, including seniors, students, professionals, families, community groups, and many more. You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.
Download our volunteer information packet, which includes an application and volunteer guidelines.
Volunteers for the city will be expected to follow certain general guidelines, and in some cases, more specific requirements set by individual departments.
We have opportunities available at the Civic Center, Community Center, Minsky Gym, more than 30 plus parks, and the Saints Golf Course. A variety of positions at each of these facilities is available. All shifts and all days of the week are available. You can volunteer for as few or as many hours per week as you would like.

All prospective volunteers for youth sports coaching must complete a volunteer application packet, which includes a background investigation and authorization forms. Please contact Tammy Grieve in the Human Resources Department, (772) 807-4428 for an appointment. She will set up a time for you to meet with her to fill out your paperwork and go through a 15-minute orientation.
You must also be certified by the NYSCA, which can be done online at www.nays.org. When completed, please bring a copy of your certification to Ron DiSangro. This requirement must be completed before you have any contact with children or parents. If you have any questions about the certification process, contact Ron at (772) 344-4144 or rdisangro@cityofpsl.com.
