Welcome to Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation
"Parks and Recreation, the benefits are endless."
The pursuit of Happiness… an inalienable right.
From The Director
The first week in December, 2008 will be the grand opening of the largest recreational complex the City of Port St. Lucie has ever constructed.
On Monday, December 1, 2008 the City will officially invite the public into the Port St. Lucie Civic Center and Village Square. This 100,000 sq. ft. public building and 77,000 sq. ft. public park will be the focal point for Port St. Lucie's new downtown, City Center. The building will function as both a banquet facility and recreational space. The south or banquet side of the building will include the 12,675 sq. ft. emerald ballroom, the 6250 sq. ft. ruby conference hall, a 2000 sq. ft. art gallery and an on-site catering service from the 4000 sq. ft. kitchen. The North or recreational side of the building includes a 12,000 sq. ft. gymnasium, a 5105 sq. ft. fitness center, a 2318 sq. ft. game room, a 3065 sq. ft. multipurpose room, a 1499 sq. ft. tot room plus four indoor racquetball courts and a full service cafe open to the public for breakfast and lunch.
Directly to the west of the Civic Center will be the Village square. This 77,000 sq. ft. outdoor space will include an elevated outdoor performing stage, lawn seating and an interactive water fountain for children to enjoy. This open-air gathering area will be available to host City festivals, concerts, and holiday parties.
Inside this edition of Leisure Time you will get a detailed listing of the special events and programs planned at the Civic Center and Village square along with information on how you can rent the ballroom or conference hall for your meeting, business function or party.
These two facilities, the Civic Center and Village Square will contribute to the social, economic, cultural and environmental health of the City. We look forward to seeing you there!
