Botanical Garden Fundraiser planned for
March 21
The Friends of the Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens is holding a fundraiser cocktail party on Friday, March 21 at Tradition Town Hall in western Port St. Lucie.
The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will feature a free raffle, music by students from Lincoln Park Academy and a short presentation about the Botanical Garden site. The cost is $25.
The garden will be set on 10 acres of city-owned property south of Port St. Lucie Boulevard between Westmoreland Boulevard and the St. Lucie River, and will include facilities for educational presentations, a lake for small boats and other nature-oriented amenities.
Residents are encouraged to join Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Garden group and help plan the future of the important project, which will become a notable tourist destination and place of pride for Port St. Lucie residents for generations to come. Citizen input into the plans will ensure the botanical garden will have something for everyone.
Councilman Christopher Cooper is heading the Botanical Garden efforts. If you would like to talk to him about the project, you can e-mail him at pslbotanicalgard@aol.com or call him at (772) 871-5159.
