Celebrate a glorious Fourth of July at the Civic Center’s Freedomfest

The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce Freedomfest 2009. This extraordinary Independence Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 4, at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.

9:30 a.m.—Freedomfest Mile Run
Pre-register at Minsky Gym. Call Marvin at (772) 344-4017.
Race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Fees:
13 and younger—$5.70
14+—$11.35

10 a.m.—Annual Elks Club Parade
The parade route will wind through the streets of the Civic Center.

Following the parade, spectators in the Village Square will be treated to a variety of music, food and activities for all ages.

Outside in Village Square, there will be a variety of live entertainment such as; Category 5 Blues/R&B Band and Soul Rebel. There will be bounce houses, arts and crafts, free face painting, caricature drawings, and a balloon artist. We will also have a Kid Zone inside the Civic Center in the gymnasium where there will be a sports carnival.

At 9 p.m., spectators in Village Square and the surrounding area will be amazed as the area’s largest fireworks display lights up the night sky (weather permitting).

As it has been for more than 19 years, Freedomfest will be a day full of food, fun and good old-fashioned American Independence Day spirit for everyone to enjoy.

Please note: Fireworks of any kind are not permitted at this event, and the Port St. Lucie Police Department will confiscate all personal fireworks.
