The Parks and Recreation Department always has a need for qualified volunteers to assist us in providing quality recreational programs to residents.
City volunteers are a diverse group, including seniors, students, professionals, families, community groups, and many more. Please be sure to read and download our volunteer guidelines.
The following are two areas within the department that are often in need of volunteers:
The fabulous Civic Center has numerous volunteer opportunities, including guest services, recreation (game room attendant, recreation desk, gymnasium, outdoor interactive fountain), and special events. For more information, contact Maureen at (772) 807-4488.
All prospective volunteers for youth sports coaching must complete a volunteer application packet, which includes a background investigation and authorization forms. Please contact Lisa Mochan in the Human Resources Department, (772) 344-4345 for an appointment. She will set up a time for you to meet with her to fill out your paperwork and go through a 15-minute orientation.
You must also be certified by the NYSCA, which can be done online at www.nays.org.When completed, please bring a copy of your certification to Ron DiSangro. This requirement must be completed before you have any contact with children or parents. If you have any questions about the certification process, contact Ron at (772) 344-4144 or rdisangro@cityofpsl.com.
