City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan
Welcome to the City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan Web page. The State of Florida’s local government comprehensive planning law, Chapter 163, Part 2, Florida Statutes (F.S), requires that all counties and municipalities throughout Florida maintain long-range comprehensive planning programs. The comprehensive plan is the foundation for local planning as it acts as an outline of the community's vision and priorities.
As part of this process, local governments are required periodically to prepare Evaluation and Appraisal Reports (EARs) addressing implementation of their plans. The EAR is a periodic assessment and update of the Comprehensive Plan. It evaluates progress in achieving goals, objectives, and policies and contains an assessment of how well the Comprehensive Plan has been working. The EAR identifies the major issues that should be addressed in the updated Comprehensive Plan. The preparation of this EAR represents the first step in adopting a new comprehensive plan.
The current City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1998. The City’s Evaluation and Appraisal Report is due in April 2010. Following adoption of the EAR, the City will have eighteen months to adopt a new comprehensive plan.

The task of drafting the Evaluation and Appraisal Report and the new comprehensive plan will be a partnership between City of Port St. Lucie citizens, city government, elected officials and other local and regional entities.
As preparation for the EAR gets underway, the Planning and Zoning Department will be updating this webpage to help inform all stakeholders of the process.
