The D-9 Canal improvements will start in the near future. The project is being funded through the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Disaster Recovery Contract #10DB-K4-10-66-01-K 35. It will be administered by the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County.
The improvements will consist of canal clearing and vegetation removal, slope restoration, placing rock filled gabion baskets, leveling slopes, and sodding. the project will provide for accessible canal slopes that can be maintained with mowing equipment on a routine schedule.
All restoration work will be contained within the city drainage right-of-way for the D-9 Canal.
The City of Port St. Lucie Engineering Department will manage the project. The Design and Inspection Engineer is Engineering Design and Construction, Inc.
