Hogpen Slough Drainage Basin improvements

In the near future, the Hogpen Slough drainage basin between U.S. Highway 1 and Village Green Drive will be upgraded to help mitigate future storm drainage events. The project is being funded through the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant (CDBG),  Disaster Recovery Contract #10DB-K4-10-66-01-K 35. It will be administered by the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County.

The improvements will consist of limited nuisance and exotic vegetation removal, grinding and/or removal of tree stumps and/or debris, revetment erosion protection, removal/regrading of shoaling in tributary canals, regrading of existing channel downstream of control structure, sodding of all disturbed areas above the waterline, and control structure restoration. The work also includes installation of stormwater sluice gates, electric motor actuators, water level transducers, SCADA control system panels, associated systems work, fiber optic conduit/pull boxes/cables/connections, control panel concrete pad and fencing with gate, electric power service and all coordination and testing necessary to provide a complete and functioning system. All work will be contained within the city Drainage Rights-Of-Way.

The City of Port St. Lucie Engineering Department will manage the project. The Design and Inspection Engineer is Engineering Design and Construction, Inc.
