Darwin Boulevard Re-Opens with New Sidewalk in Front of School
Construction on Darwin Boulevard is now complete and the road is open again to traffic between Landale and Tulip Boulevards. All access points to Treasure Coast High School and Whispering Pines Park also are now open.
Major improvements were made to drainage and traffic flow to correct serious flooding problems that created hazards and made getting to the schools and the park difficult during heavy rain. In addition to the flooding corrections, crews added a sidewalk as part of the City Council’s sidewalk initiative, and widened intersections to make turning safer. Darwin continues to be a two-lane road.
The $1.8 million project involved several temporary detours, including the rerouting of park and school traffic around the back of the Darwin Square shopping plaza and the rerouting of traffic in the Villas of Rosewood to Landale and to Bridgeport Drive.
