Hazardous Household Waste Drop-off Day set for Saturday
The City of Port St. Lucie and the Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee will hold another free Hazardous Household Waste Drop-off Day on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the City’s Public Works complex, at the southwest corner of Bayshore Boulevard and Thornhill Drive.
The event makes it easy for residents to get rid of their unwanted household chemicals and waste by providing a convenient place and time where the materials can be handed over to experts — free of charge — for proper disposal.
Residents can drop off:
- · Cleaning fluids.
- · Bug sprays.
- · Batteries.
- · Flammable chemicals, fuel, automotive fluids, etc.
- · Old computers and electronics.
- · Fluorescent light bulbs.
- · Propane.
- · Mercury-filled thermometers and thermostats.
- · Pool chemicals.
- · Aerosol cans.
- · Photographic chemicals
- · Tires.
Items not accepted:
- · Biomedical wastes.
- · Ammunition.
- · Explosives.
- · Gun powder.
- · Dynamite.
- · Flares.
For these unacceptable items, residents should call the county’s solid waste division, which will make special arrangements for safety reasons. Their number is (772) 462-1624.
