Q.) Who do I call if the ditch in front of my house (swale) is holding water and not draining?

A.) If you are experiencing standing water in your swale or liner for longer than seven (7) days after the last rain, please contact our department at (772) 871-5100.
 

Q.) What does my Stormwater Fee pay for?

A.) This fee provides funding for the maintenance of the drainage system throughout the entire City of Port St. Lucie.  It covers the cost of spraying and maintenance of canals, retention ponds, lakes, and the drainage Rights-of-Way.  It also covers the cost of cleaning and mowing of the swales and road Rights-of-Way.  The money collected also pays for the purchase and the maintenance of equipment, materials and the hiring and equipping of personnel so that the City is able to maintain and improve the drainage system.

Q.) What department do I call if the cross street culvert is blocked, crushed or blocking the flow of stormwater?

A.) We have a street culvert replacement program in progress.  We can also assist with answering other question or concern regarding blockage or culvert failure.  Please

Q.) What number do I call if my driveway culvert is rusting out and causing my concrete to crack?

A.)  Driveway culverts and concrete maintenance and repairs are the homeowner's responsibility.  

Q.) Who is responsible for tree limbs that are hanging over and encroaching onto my personal property?

A.) If the tree limbs are on private property adjoining your property, you will need to contact the property owner, or cut back the trees yourself.  Public Works cannot access private property.  If the tree limbs are from trees growing on City owned Rights-of-Way, please contact our department at (772) 871-5100.

Q.) The grass is very tall along the medians, road Rights-of-Way and drainage Rights-of-Way.  When will they get mowed?

A.) Medians are mowed 30 times a year.  The road Rights-of-Way are mowed on a rotation schedule of 6 to 8 times per year.  The drainage Rights-of-Way are also done on a rotation schedule of  6 times per year.  Contact our office to find out when the area is on schedule for the next mowing.  

Q.) What does the City do if overgrown trees are blocking the view of oncoming traffic?

A.) Our mowing equipment will cut back all tree or brush growth that blocks the view of oncoming traffic.  Please contact our department at (772) 871-5100.

Q.) Who do I contact if there is a pothole developing in the road and the street edge is crumbling?

A.) Our Streets Division oversees the maintenance of City owned roads.  Please contact our department at (772) 871-5100 to schedule repairs.

Q.) My street is full of cracks.  When will it be repaired?

A.) Selective streets are budgeted each year for resurfacing.  Please contact our department, we will check when and if your street is scheduled.

Q.) What department do I contact if a stop sign is down or leaning?

A.) Our Traffic Safety Division oversee4s the maintenance of all street signage.  Please contact our department at (772) 871-5100 immediately.  

Q.) Who do I call if a sinkhole has developed in the road or Rights-of-Way?

A.) Sinkholes can become hazardous.  Please contact us as soon as you see one developing, anywhere.
