Traffic Safety Division

Main Areas of Responsibility

1) Street and Traffic Sign installation and maintenance

2) Guardrail installation and maintenance

3) Thermo-plastic striping and street marking

4) Coordination of digital message boards

The Traffic Safety Division is charged with the maintenance of all traffic control signs, including street and stop signs. There are thousands of traffic signs within the city. This division also maintains the 26 bridges, many miles of guardrail and all thermoplastic marking and striping on city maintained streets. Street signs for the entire city are managed by this division. Our goal is to have all personnel certified by IMSA as Level 1 or Level 2 in Signs and Markings. The Traffic Safety Division is 100% funded by the Road and Bridge Fund.
