Utility Engineering Division

The Utility Engineering division provides engineering based customer service to existing and future commercial customers and provides internal engineering services to the Utility. This division currently consists of over 20 employees.

Throughout the year, the Utility Engineering division actively administers and monitors all aspects of the development and construction of commercial projects, multi-family residential projects, and new subdivisions. The division is charged with the responsibility of reviewing and approving project plans, initiating and processing commercial service agreements, inspecting construction, and bringing the project to closure via the processing of numerous legal documents related to the Utility's ownership of newly constructed utility facilities. The division annually coordinates activities related to more than 150 commercial projects.

The Utility Engineering division actively participates in the development of plans, and provides construction inspection services related to many Capital Improvement projects. Those projects have included coordinating the construction of the $15,000,000 reverse osmosis water treatment plant (consisting of three supply wells, 3 miles of discharge main, deep injection well upgrades, etc.), monitoring the relocation of existing mains and the construction of new water and sewer mains along the U.S. #1 corridor and the Prima Vista corridor, monitoring the expansion of the City's Northport, Westport, and Southport sewage treatment plants, the preparation of utility main relocation plans associated with the proposed widening of  Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Airoso Boulevard.

The division is also responsible for locating, identifying, and marking all of the Utility's underground facilities prior to any construction contractor digging into the ground. Not only is it in the best interest of the Utility to locate and mark its underground infrastructure in order to prevent costly repairs due to damage and/or breakage, this activity also helps protect the health, safety, and welfare of our customers by preserving continued water and sewer service to their homes or businesses.
